Our Story
Imagine: Australia and Germany are 16,000 kilometers apart – what are the chances that two Germans will meet there and fall in love? Yes, we would have said impossible! But in 2016, in Sydney on Bondi Beach, that's exactly what happened.
After just four weeks of party nights, walks and intense conversations, we decided in "Gloria Jeans": "Come on, let's try it!" But Björn stayed in Australia while I (Tanja) had to return to Germany. The skepticism? Huge! But there was something there... and so we spoke on the phone every day.
Six months later, Björn finally landed in Germany. But did the "magic" still work? To find out, we flew straight on our first trip together to Fuerteventura. Instead of a romantic time together, we ended up at the German doctor on the second day - after a quad bike accident. While Björn sat in the waiting room, uninjured and slightly shocked, my (Tanja) wounds were cleaned with ethanol (yes, that hurt). The doctor then asked Björn: "Now hold your girlfriend's hand and comfort her!" Well, that was probably the end of the "probationary period". But instead of ruining our vacation, it brought us even closer together - and we laugh about it today (by the way, we knew the cocktail menu by heart from that day on).
Since then, we have been an unbeatable team, ready for any adventure! Because what we have in common most is traveling.
Hello Worldtrip
We met while traveling in Australia and it was immediately clear to us that we would return to this special place at some point, because Australia was just the beginning.
We wanted more – much more!
The dream of seeing the whole world never left us. But then life got in the way:
Studying, job, pandemic, mental health. Was the dream over? No!
At some point we said to ourselves: If not now, then when? And if we are honest, what is a year anyway? Of course, it all sounds so easy - but we were also in a state of chaos in our thoughts and feelings.
Is this the right decision? Do we regret it? What does the future look like? - etc...
Believe us - these were all questions we asked ourselves, but the decision was made. We're doing it. Now or never!
I (Tanja) previously worked in event marketing and with a heavy heart I quit my job and Björn finished his bachelor's thesis while we were traveling. We sublet our apartment in Düsseldorf because we felt it was too unsafe if something unexpected happened. The first appointments for vaccinations were quickly made and the apartment was slowly emptied. You can read everything that needs to be done before starting this big adventure in our blog post .
